Our mission is to build a self-sustainable film market in Northern California. 

Ok....so what does that mean??  Cow Town Film Productions, LLC is only one of many film productions companies in Northern California. 

We would like to see films continued to be made in Sacramento County & Northern California.  Unfortunately, there are many factors in having a sustainable film market that make this a challenge. 

If we look at Hollywood, CA, we see a self-sustained market.  They have infrastructure, organization, money, talent, and so on.  In the Sacramento area we have many of the same things as well as some of the best locations & personalities on earth! 

What we don't have are city tax incentives, and other business breaks that benefit film makers.  It's these benefits that bring film to Northern CA from Los Angeles & New York.  Cow Town Film Productions has been very active on city, state, & federal levels.  We now have an extended IRS section 181, IRS section 199, and a new State of California tax credit!  Pair that with savvy investors who understand that NOW is the time to invest, and you have a great film community in Northern California!

Having a SELF-sustainable market means we fundraise & hire locally, we shoot locally, we sell globally. 

The formula to having a great independent film is this:

1. Start with the script. Indies are pioneers when it comes to screen-writing.  Hits like Slumdog Millionaire are possible because of the inovative writing behind Independent film.

2. Cast top name talent to generate sales, but keep it fresh with unknown actors in supporting roles.  Viewers are tiring of seeing the same 5% of SAG at work.

3. Shoot the film with the best equipment & crew the budget will allow.  Cow Town Film Productions has the BEST equipment in high definition digital available thanks to the local community & businesses we partner with like Silverado Systems and Torrey Loomis.  We shoot in 4k, 3-D, and will eventually shoot 5k.

4. Know the market in which you are selling the film. Indies are famous for exploiting niche markets & maximizing profits to the investor with innovative marketing.
